Empowering the Future

In the face of the ongoing national shortage of specialist skills, IDE champions an invigorating approach to unlock the vast reservoir of technical knowledge right here in the UK.

Bid farewell to the constraints of traditional resource-based manpower substitution, which often left us lacking the flexibility and access needed to tap into our national skills treasure trove. Much of our country's engineering prowess has been confined to a handful of mammoth contracts, restricting our potential.

But IDE has a game-changing vision! We're propelling specialist engineering services toward an exciting defined work package business model. This bold move empowers micro and small businesses to unleash their untapped capacity beyond the confines of monolithic single-source contracts and into the bustling free market.

Our secret weapon? An exceptional community of independent Subject Matter Experts, seamlessly collaborating within our DART accredited IT infrastructure. They're the driving force behind our ability to consistently deliver for our clients, always on time and within budget.

Network Diagram

With this remarkable network in place, IDE confidently plans and oversees complex projects and programs. We're not just agile; we're ready to scale up our delivery team to conquer the ever-evolving challenges of today's intricate projects. Our collaborative spirit ensures we never rely solely on a single individual, building resilience into every facet of our delivery.

At IDE, we're a dynamic blend of a Small Medium Enterprise, embodying the ideals of agility, flexibility, and value for money, combined with the vast resource pool and reach-back capability of a larger organization.

Delivery

The network of SMEs brings together capability across the Systems Engineering and Safety lifecycles. Consisting of a community of over 50 engineers with varied availability (2-5 days per week) collaborating as a knowledge network to deliver in-line with client needs, thus enabling us to release previously unavailable capability from the national skills pool. Additionally, IDE have built successful collaborative relationships with other organisations to provide scarce resource to DE&S and commercial entities.

The collaborative network contains leaders in their field such as the previous:

  • Head of Systems Engineering at BAES Naval ships

  • Head of Functional Safety at Northrop Grumman

  • Head of Safety & Environmental and Head of Delivery for Advisory Services for QinetiQ

  • Project Safety Engineering Managers for Maritime and Land Defence projects

Availability of individual delivery resource may vary over the course of the project, which is a core component of the innovative approach to delivery using the untapped availability of the National Engineering skills pool. However, the core IDE Business Development Services team provide continuity, quality assurance and delivery management of the work packages, whilst the large pool of resources provides the agility of work package delivery throughput. This provides resilience to maintain overall project delivery and access specialist knowledge to support.
